Long Time!

It has been a long time since I've posted on LJ.  I still regularly check posts from friends on LJ but I haven't bothered posting any thoughts.  Only because I decided to start fresh on another blog site.  You can check it out by clicking here

I just wanted to start fresh with my thoughts...

New Season!

It's the first day of Spring and I couldn't be happier!
:D

Also, this is our last day of our normal classes for teacher's college.  I have one more class to go through tonight and then a bunch of us will be going out for dinner right after.  We have one week off (for prep) and then one month to go through of our last practicum.  Then I can finally say I am free from this academic life!  FREEDOM!!!

Lent

I think I will choose to give up Facebook for Lent.  It's been a while since I've practiced giving up something for Lent, so this may as well be a start for me.  I may just use the internet strictly for school for the legnth of 40 days.  So no fashion blogs, no celebrity gossip and no reading of people's personal blogs for a little while as well.  I know I'll manage.

preteens crowd

I guess with my current situation, this has turned into my teaching blog (partially anyway).  Heh...
I start observing a grade eight class tomorrow for the day and the following Tuesday.  And then I teach them for two weeks during February.
I'm always anxious to see what kind of crowd I'll be teaching.
Wish me luck!

i'll be home for christmas

i am home at last!
one month of teaching was HELL!  but i did learn a lot from my associate teachers and those evil students (some thankfully and not all).
it was also flattering to hear from a fellow student teacher to be told that i do sound like a 'teacher'.  lol  well...i'm working on it anyway.  ;P

it's good to be home in my own home town, in my own house, and in my own bed.  :)

p.s.  i finally saw hairspray and thoroughly enjoyed the singing and the dancing.  it was a nice and fluffy approach for such a heavy topic (segregation of culture).  it made me miss dancing...

everytime I cross Detroit...

It's been a crazy week since I got back in Windsor with Josh.  I have started my first week of teaching for my second placement and so far it's been stressful.  I feel like I am always catching up with so much information because Geography is my second teachable.  But thankfully my associate teachers are very helpful and understanding.  I just have to make sure I am on top of things even if I only one step ahead of the students.

Josh and I crossed the border to do some light shopping at the Great Lakes Crossings in Detroit.  The trip to the U.S. was smooth and easy which I was anticipating the opposite.  I was able to buy a cute pair of earrings, two hands soaps and two lip glosses from Bath and Body Works, and a cute grey sweater for Josh.  On the way back to the Canadian border is where I did not anticipate the stress.  Firstly, we missed our exit to get to the border, so we made several detours.  Eventually we were able to get back on track.  While we were waiting in line for the border ramp, the truck in front of us just started to back up towards us.  I was only a few feet away from the truck and had no space to back up in order to get out of his way.  I panicked and just honked until the truck moved forward again.  Thankfully the truck just bumped onto my bumper.  But I got scared of the thought of getting sandwiched by two trucks (another truck was behind us).  I got Josh to yell at the truck driver and make him aware that he backed into my car!  I'm still mildly shaken from the experience and relieved to be back in Canada again.  It just seems that whenever I cross the Michigan state, there's always SOMETHING that has to go wrong.

I'm going drinking with some friends which I look forward to.  It will be a nice stress reliever for everyone.  :D

Santa is in town!

I had a lovely brunch meeting with my high school friends.  We headed down to Streetsville which is one of the oldest part of the city.  We ate at this mini restaurant called 168 South along the strip.  I chose to eat the 3 eggs and pancake meal and boy was I full after that!  A pleasant surprise came our way when Nicole came later to join us.  And the whole time we were eating we just could not stop laughing.  After eating brunch we headed down to Erin Mills Town Centre to get our picture taken with Santa.  That's right boys and girls, we got our picture taken with Santa!  There were three great shots taken and we bought it all.  Even Santa requested for a copy of that picture.  HAHA!  My scanner is back in Windsor so I won't be able to show two out of the three pictures unfortunately.  But as a teaser, here is one of them...
